What is Wingsuit Base Jumping?
Wingsuit flying is the sport of flying the human body through the air using a special jumpsuit, called a wingsuit. This wingsuit, also referred to as a birdman or squirrel suit, adds surface area to the human body to enable an increase in lift. Modern wingsuit designs, create the extra surface area with fabric between the legs and under the arms. A wingsuit flight ends with a parachute opening at a planned altitude and the wingsuit arms and legs are unzipped. A wingsuit can be flown from any point that provides sufficient altitude to glide through the air, such as skydiving aircraft or base jumping exit points.

The Wingsuit is a product of French skydiving legend Patrick de Gayardon, who invented and flew a wingsuit for skydiving. These suits could turn a 60 second, 14,000 ft jump into a 3 minute jump. For adrenaline junkies looking for a longer free-fall, these suits were perfect. Later, Patrick Pecnik and Jari Kuosma, perfected the suit and started the first company to manufacture and sell these suits to the public. As the sport of wingsuit skydiving grew, people began to use the suits to make base jumps last longer and propel the jumper beside rock faces and on top of tree lines and wingsuit base jumping was born. The new sport provided extreme speed freaks, that gave the opportunity to push the envelope and fly closer to the ground than ever before.

    Reflection on Wiki use
The Wiki project for this semester was interesting. It was definitely helped illustrate the importance of the internet and what it can be used for today in a business setting. We learnt to use RSS feeds and uploaded videos and pictures on to our pages much like building a website however in this case more people were able to collaborate on the tasks which needed to be done. Overall I think that the project was a success and will help students see what is now at our disposal and what can be done to help our future businesses.
