Wakeboarding is a summer sport that is performed on the surface of the water. It can be described as mixture of water skiing, snowboarding, and surfing. Similarly to water skiing, in wakeboarding you are being pulled by a cord attached to a motor boat. The only difference is your stance. It's like snowboarding because you are attached to the board by both feet; this is how you control yourself and your weight is what balances you to determine which direction you will go in. It is also like surfing because you are evidently gliding on the water. It's a fun and wild ride!

Author Information

My name is Mélissa Drouin and I am currently in my first year at the University of Ottawa studying business. What brought me to wakeboarding was the intensiveness that people bring to the sport. Not only is it a fun time that you can spend enjoying with your friends, but it demands determination and strength. Although I have never tried wakeboarding myself, the sport still interests me.
