Fearless Felix aka Felix Baumgartner is another famous Base Jumper, born April 20th 1969 in Salzburg Austria. He is also a Skydiver turned Base Jumper and is renowned for the particularly dangerous nature of the stunts he has performed during his career. Baumgartner spent time in the Austrian military where he practiced parachute jumping, including training to land on small target zones. The dangerous nature of his jumps have landed him Red Bull sponsorships which help him continue to find new jumps. Red Bull is also responsible for getting these jumps publicized and bringing other big name sponsors to events. Baumgartner set several records in his life including:
1999 first human to base jump from the Petronas Towers (highest Base Jump)
2003 crossing the English Channel using a wingsuit
2005 The lowest Base Jump ever from the Christ the Redemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
2007 He also became the first person to jump of the taipei 101 Tower, the tallest building in the world.

Standing atop Brazil’s iconic Christ the Redeemer statue Baumgartner braced himself for what was to be the world’s lowest BASE jump at 29 metres (95 feet). When he stepped off the edge, split seconds would extend as Rio de Janeiro opened up before his eyes. Those who make jumps that fall into the highest category may have more freefall time, but it’s the lower jumps that are more dangerous because there is so little time for the parachute to open.
